Wretch, the grassroot band you need to know.
Pop-Punk three-piece Wretch, are taking the North East by storm, but could North Yorkshire be next?
After a promising gig at the Lending room in Leeds, Wretch are making waves into the local Yorkshire scene.
Wretch formed just over 2 years ago.
The band features Liam, Max, and Callum. Additionally, they also have two session musicians, Ben and Tom.
Wretch have made quite the name for themselves in their hometown, Newcastle.
From their first gig at the Globe Newcastle with an audience of just 150, to their EP launch gig at the Grove with more than double watching, Wretch’s fandom is rapidly expanding.
Yorkshire fans can expect a high energy performance.
The band delivers intense live shows that create a genuine connection with the crowd.
Wretch deliver a setlist packed with fan favourites and ofcourse original material.
“We pour everything we have into our performances” says lead singer Liam.
But how did Wretch come to be?
Liam is the founding member of the band.
Max joined originally as a session guitarist, but his chemistry with the others was unmatched and he decided to stay.
Taking early inspiration from the likes of Nirvana and Pearl Jam the band wrote their first song: ‘Girls Night Out.’
However, Wretch’s music took a massive jump to a 2000s punk-style, when they released two singles ‘Sweet Shopping’ and ‘Scream Out’.
After the launch of their debut EP ‘What Needs To Be Said’ the band started branching out to new cities.
Wretch is ready to captivate audiences and solidify their place in the UK music scene.
“You can expect more music, bigger shows and a lot more content coming your way” says Max lead guitarist.
Hopefully, we will see Wretch hitting some famous York venues such as The Fulford Arms or the Crescent in the future.
