Mark and James Wood, 21, from Knaresborough, started ‘BackyardCricket UK’ on TikTok in May 2024.
Backyard Cricket is an informal alternative of the traditional game of Cricket, usually played in non-traditional venues like backyards, parks and gardens and is played all around the world.
Following their passion for Cricket, the twins started posting content on social media with support from their friends, who feature in their videos.

The brothers say turning their back garden into a cricket pitch has been one of the best decisions they could have made.
Speaking to them both about their sponsors, they said “It has been really cool to work with some of the biggest cricket companies”. They have been working with huge names like Red Bull India, Kitlocker and Gray Nicholls who provide them with teamwear and cricket equipment and travel opportunities.
Last summer, they hosted a content creators bash in their garden, hosting multiple cricket content creators which racked up over 164k views on YouTube. In this video, you will see the likes of Cricket District, Club Cricket Badger and the boys who are involved in the channel already and more.
Cricket District have 460k subscribers on YouTube and 246k on Instagram. This group is made of two men from Sussex called Jack Meacher and Toby Marriott. They also create Cricket content across all social media platforms. Club Cricket Badger is another content creator who focuses on Cricket, having over 286k followers across Youtube and Instagram.
Twins On Their Travels And Who They Have Met Along The Way
Travelling has been a massive part of their journey, going on trips that have been nothing short of a dream. From grabbing a train down to Lords to flying thousands of miles to India, Dubai and Australia.
Meeting legends of the game is also a memory the twins will never forget. England Cricketer, Ben Stokes featured on the channel when they travelled to India to play Cricket in Aamby Valley, in the middle of a lake.

That isn’t the only time they have met, and played Cricket with Ben Stokes as they played against each other alongside Matthew Potts at Sixes in Leeds.
Matthew Potts is another England Cricketer who also plays for Durham.
In 2025, they played the biggest Cricket YouTube stars in India for a three over fixture in Mumbai, being invited by RedBull India.
In 2026, on their latest adventure to Australia, they embarked on a 24-hour Cricket challenge where they played five matches across different locations down under – sponsored by Old Spice.

The twins released their own shirt that fans could buy online alongside Kitlocker last year. There are also some other items you can buy here.
Fast forward two years, their channel continues to grow as they have a combined 991,100 followers across social media platforms and more exciting trips planned.
The brothers already spend around six months abroad, mostly filming Cricket content, and six months here in the UK.
With this, if their channel keeps growing they have got the potential of having an even bigger international career out of this, which all started in their back garden in Knaresborough.
However, the twins remain humble as they appreciate their friends help and support over the last few years. “We are able to bring friends as well on these trips, they have been an integral part of the setup, so it’s been really great”
