After the attack on a passenger on a train in Cambridgeshire police have said to expect a nationwide increase in security in train stations including: York, London, Leeds, Manchester and Huntingdon.

Although the attack has not been classed as a terror-related the transport police are on high alert in order to prevent more situations from occurring.

The officers who have been stationed in these positions, as told by the British Transport Police, are there to “reassure passengers” during this tense time.

Many witnesses of the situation have praised those who helped defuse and arrest the attacker even calling them “heroes” and preventing more serious injuries and even deaths.

After the cancellations of trains and delays due to the incident York Train station was full of passengers eager to go home and due to this people were unable to stop to answer a few questions.

There had been an increase in security around the platforms and attendants from LNER watching over the platforms to make passengers feel less tense.

The increased presence of the officers is to deter any similar situations again to reassure passengers and commuters.
