Chris Holloway comes in as new head coach for the Minsterbelles

York City Ladies are pinning their hopes for the rest of their season on a new head coach, Chris Holloway.

The 49-year-old manager was announced to the public on February 21st through the teams’ main social media pages.

The change came a short couple of weeks after a disappointing 3-2 loss to the top-of-the-league team Middlesbrough, Holloway replacing previous manager Steph Turnbull.

Holloway brings with him years of experience, his previous managerial positions consisting of teams such as West Bromwich Albion Ladies and Coventry City Ladies, both performing well in their leagues.

In his first interview with the club Holloway expressed his commitment saying: “It’s something that I’ve got a real passion for”.

The Chairperson for the Minsterbelles Paula Stainton also expressed her feelings on Holloway’s arrival saying: “I am delighted to have Chris onboard” and: “He felt like the right person (for the job)”.

His first game at home against Chorley ended in a disappointing 6-1 loss, however, Holloway’s next opportunity to prove his improvement to the team will be away against third place team Durham Cestria on the 10th of March.
