Friday 3rd November marks the date of the annual Charity Race Night at the SU hosted by the Men’s Football Team. This event was created in order to raise money for the charity: Men’s Mental Health, as three out of four suicides are committed by men.
The night consists of students from York St. John attending the event at the Student Union bar, tickets cost £2 to enter, with all proceeds going to the charity. Throughout the night there will be pre-recorded horse races that will be screened to allow people to place bets throughout the night, the races can be from any time over the last 10 years to minimise any chance of fixing the races.
It’s a good experience for the students to socialise and have a good night, whilst raising money for a good cause. Robert West has described the event as ‘one of the best nights of the year’. Over the past few years the sports team have managed to raise hundreds of pounds in raising the awareness about serious problem in today’s society.
Doors will be opening from 7:30PM and will finish at roughly 10:00PM.
