Young people will get the chance to experience a unique event at York Races this season.
Invades, which seeks to promote live sport to younger audiences, will stage live DJs, music and socialising alongside traditional racing on the Knavesmire next month.
Hundreds of students from the city’s two sport-driven universities are expected to take part.
Started in 2019, Invades has sold over 250,000 tickets for fixtures and matches across the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. In 2025.
Invades are a growing company, last year they hosted over 100 events at various racecourses and stadiums. Tripling their tally from last year.
With partnerships in place with some of the UK’s largest coach operators, Invades is aiming to take more than 100,000 students from 75 universities to racecourses across the nation.
The company also takes students to rowing, polo and other summer sporting occasions.
Combining both elements will total a bouncing atmosphere along the Knavesmire on the 23rd of May.
Dominic Matcham, a former Loughborough student and managing director of Invades, believes that by using social media, his operation can attract a new generation to a day at the races.
Matcham, whose business has sold more than 30,000 tickets to 63 universities since last September.
The ticket offers students: return transport, Raceday tickets and after-parties with live music.
He said: “In the smartphone, social-media intense world we now live, young people more than ever are seeking shareable immersive experiences.
“We passionately believe racing, in its pure live form, is the best way to enjoy the sport, and is an experience that can never truly be replicated through digital.”
Matcham added: “We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with some of our finest racecourses and hope we can continue to deliver a convenient and affordable service that brings a new energy and customer through the gates.”
Invades have continuous events throughout the summer which tour throughout England and Australasia.
