York City FC secured promotion after a dramatic draw against Rochdale, with Josh Stones scoring in the 103rd minute to secure the crucial point which lead them to victory and confirmed their promotion from the National League.
York City FC have spent most of the campaign near the top of the National League table, with supporters believing promotion was possible for months.
Finally with everything that happened, it was the late goal that changed the playing field , the one goal that sparked major celebrations between York city fans and supporters.
Fans inside and out of the stadium erupted as the final whistle went off.
Chants were heard all up and down the streets of York, whilst scarfs were bing raised into the air.
York city player Zak Johnson said he was “just delighted for everyone, for the city and the fans”
He continued to add: “This season everyone just came together and we had a goal in mind , which was to win the league and get to the football league , and credit , and that’s what happened.”
These celebrations plan to continue throughout the week , involving a promotion parade that plans to take place on the 7th of may.
