Have you thought about becoming a Faith Leader and supporting your local church? Then you may be in luck.
The university-based chaplaincy on the YSJ Lord Mayors Walk campus has just launched their brand-new vocational Group, welcoming all students interested in taking up a position within the Christian Ministry.
The group has been formed with the purpose of guiding students who have aspirations in becoming a Faith Leader and joining the Ministry, becoming a Chaplain, Vicar or Minister, as well as students who are exploring their faith and trying to figure out their future.

Bethan Gibb-Reid, Chaplaincy Assistant at YSJ, says: ”It’s a new group for people that are exploring, whether or not they might want to work in Christian ministry. So whether that’s as a chaplain or a vicar or a minister, particularly in the Church of England but also welcoming people that are looking at other denominations like Methodism as well.
”It’s just a chance for them to find out more about what the process is like, because it can be quite a long process to go from thinking about being a vicar to becoming, but also hearing from people that work in different contexts.”
The group will be running between now and the end of the Easter holidays and, if it proves popular, may even carry on after that.

These group sessions will involve discussions about the process of becoming a priest for example, as well as hearing from those who have already been ordained into the Church.
Bethan says ”I’m really excited, we’re hoping we have got a few people who are going to come. We’ve also opened up to students at the University of York as there might be some people from there as well.”
This vocational group will take place inside the Chaplaincy kitchen on the York St John campus, offering one session per week on Fridays, leading up to the Easter break.
