Yorkshire County Cricket club have announced the contract extension of local star Finlay Bean with him staying with the White Roses until 2028.
Bean, who was born in Harrogate was educated at Ripon Grammar School and Queen Ethelburga’s College and played for York CC. He made his first class debut for Yorkshire in 2022 where he faced Lancashire and scored an well-respected 42 runs in the first innings and 25 in the second.
He is Yorkshire’s first choice opening batsman alongside partner Adam Lyth, from Whitby in North Yorkshire, they have created an impressive partnership at the top order reaching at least 50 runs 27 times.
The left-handed batsman has played 43 first-class games for YCCC and has scored 2,422 runs, his high score totals an impressive double century scoring 224 runs against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge in June 2025.
Bean told the club: “I’m naturally delighted to be signing this new deal.”
“My journey into professional cricket hasn’t always been straightforward, but the belief shown in me by Yorkshire and the coaches has played a huge role in helping me reach this point.”

The general manager of cricket at Yorkshire noted: “Fin has firmly established himself as a proven performer at this level, and has fully repaid our faith in him over the last couple of seasons.”
