York City aim to extend historic run against Boreham Wood

York City Community Stadium

In-form York City visit Boreham Wood tomorrow evening knowing another positive result would further strengthen their title charge as they continue a record-breaking unbeaten run

The league leaders travel to fourth place side in a vital clash as rivals Rochdale were also in action in a night that could complicate things at the top of the National League.

The Minstermen will arrive on a 24-game unbeaten streak that has already surpassed their previous club record from the 2024 season.

Boreham Wood are still very much in the conversation for a promotion spot, as they currently vie for a play off place

The Hertfordshire team suffered a very narrow defeat in their last match losing 3-2 against Tamworth.

However, their home record and attacking threat will make them a difficult opposition for York City, who will need to be at their best to take all three points.

York City’s win against Morecambe saw them break another record – a ninth consecutive victory surpassing the eight consecutive victories from the 2009/10 season.

York boss Stuart Maynard will be keen to see his side maintain focus as title rivals Rochdale sit just one point behind with a game in hand to play.

“We’ve got to keep going now, we’ve done nothing, we’ve broken a record but it means nothing, you get nothing for it apart from going into York’s history books, which I’m proud of.

“But we’ve done nothing, there’s nothing won and we’ve got to make sure we keep going to the next game now, Boreham Wood is our sole focus now,” he said.

Tuesday’s match give York City another opportunity to strengthen their chances at the top as well as piling on pressure to Rochdale to see if they can stay right behind them.

For Boreham Wood, it’s a chance to bounce back from defeat and keep a promotion spot alive.
