City Of York Council Reminds Residents of Queen Street Closure

From 7pm on Saturday the 24th of May to 6am on Tuesday the 27th of May, Queen Street will be close for any vehicles due to roadworks for the ongoing, Station Gateway project.

The roadworks are being completed by contractors John Sisk & Son, and they will be re-laying the road surfaces to create the new road lay outs needed for the Station Gateway project.

The station and surrounding businesses will remain open from the 24th-27th of May, and trains will not be affected either with them running to and from York as usual. There will be some diversions with the buses however they will still operate, and there will be free shuttle buses running from Blossom Street to the York Train Station during this time.  Pedestrians will still have access throughout the closure period.

However, the station long stay car park will remain closed.

The full information of the plans regarding the station gateway project has been published to release a full set of instructions regarding travel for all effected by this closure.

Councillor Kate Ravilious, Executive Member for Transport at City of York Council says: “There has been a lot of change around the station recently and I would like to thank everybody for their continued cooperation and patience as these works are ongoing.”
