After a season of struggles, Ruben Selles’ six-month tenure as Hull City manager came to an end.
Finishing 21st in the Championship and only just surviving on goal difference was not the season that City fans were hoping for after a near miss from the playoffs just a year ago.
In December, Hull City fans were pleased to see their team with a new leader sitting with only three wins, they hoped for change with their new hire.
Selles, coming from reading, took over after Tim Walter, who departed the club after a poor run of form which saw his team sitting 22nd after 18 games.
During his reign he claimed some notable results away from home, but poor home form meant the Tigers’ fate in the championship would go down to the final game of the season.
A Luton loss on the final day saw them heading down to League One instead, but despite staying up that wasn’t enough for Ruben Selles to remain in charge.
Selles was at the helm for 28 games in which he gained nine wins.
Hull City finished the season as the lowest scorers, finishing with just 44 goals scored across the 46-game season.
Many Tigers fans were displeased with the decision to sack Ruben Selles, one saying “we should have given Selles more time.”
Another said: “Another promising young manager sacked by Acun. He needs to be careful, he can soon go from “hero to villain” and is already losing fans.”
The new favourite to take charge is Plymouth Argyle manager Miron Muslic, who took over Plymouth in January of this year.
He succeeded when they were rock bottom of the Championship and almost guided them to safety.
Another potential candidate for the job could be ex-player Tom Cleverly after his recent sacking at Watford.
