York’s Eboracum Roman Festival takes place from the 19th of May and will run up until the 31st and it is not one to miss out on.
The Romans will be taking over York and demonstrating the Roman way of life through hands on activities, story telling, expert talks and family workshops.
The festival hosts have specifically tailored this event to promote an educational impact, as local primary schools are able to join in the festival through both online sources and learning activities.
Yorkshire museum has partnered with York Minister and York Archaeology to produce a schools pack, in which can educate students on the history of Roman York.
A military parade is taking place between Museum Gardens and York Minister and is scheduled to take place on both Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th of May where children can participate by marching and complete drill activities.
As well as a free Roman treasure hunt which will take place through the City Centre, DIG and Yorkshire Museum, available for families across the city to engage in – which runs from the 24th – 25th and the 28th – 30th of May, 10am till 3pm.
This year’s festival features lectures which offer knowledge to the public from notable professors such as Mary Beard, Peter Addyman and more. Tickets ranging from £0-£15, booking is required. Find out more on how to book here
