York’s usually popular night club Salvation, often nicknamed “Salvos”, faced a two-week-long protest from students refusing to enter the club after allegations regarding spiking.
The club, located on Tanner Row, was forced to cancel it’s student ‘Paradiso’ night which usually takes place on a Friday.
This came after North Yorkshire police led an investigation on the night club following apparent frequent spiking situations in which young students had been targeted.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson has commented releasing a statement that: “The venue is supporting our investigation and has provided CCTV footage to help us build evidence.”
On the 20th of March, Salvation posted on it’s socials that they are now going to enhance safety measures within and out the club.
This includes, body cameras, bag searches, free bottle and drink covers, along with street marshals and welfare trained toilet attendants to maintain full security of its attendees.
According to government reports 6,732 cases of spiking occurred during 2023, becoming a increasing problem in night clubs within the UK.
