How TikTok Could Be York FC’s Secret Promotion Weapon

York City TikTok profile

TikTok is the new weapon being used by many football teams in England and around the world.

It found that York City have just snuck into the playoff places, sitting in fifth place for the number of TikTok followers.

Forest Green Rovers are heading to the TikTok Football League, with over 10,000 more followers than the other teams in the division.

How Tiktok is being used by club admins

TikTok has been used increasingly to tease opposing fans and teams.

In the recent match between Arsenal and Manchester City, Myles Lewis-Skelly mocked Erling Haalands celebration against him in revenge for when the Norwegian sledged him in a previous encounter.

The social media accounts are also being used to show highlights or funny moments during football matches – in contrast to other social media apps.

The main reason for the recent outbreak on TikTok can be to engage with younger sports fans.

The investigation made by The Athletic said that the audience for TikTok is “60 percent 18 to 24 years old, 75 to 85 per cent male and 85 per cent under 34”.

This statistic makes it quite clear as to why the style of content is much different to its counterparts.

The shorter style of content is perfectly suited to younger fans and is very successful in growing the fanbase of many clubs in England.
