What record did Kendrick Lamar break?

Kendrick Lamar has taken the title of most watched Super Bowl halftime show from Rihanna, racking up well over 133 million views during the event and over 38 million YouTube views since.

He opened by saying: “I want to play their favourite song… but you know they love to sue,” causing speculation towards if he can perform the popular Drake diss track “Not Like Us” following the Canadian artists filling a defamation lawsuit.

Kendrick played an edited version of the track to the jubilation of many his fans and also critics of Drake.

His performance featured guest musical appearances from SZA, as well as cameos from Samuel L Jackson as Uncle Sam and Serena Williams as a dancer performing the “crip walk.”

This follows a good week for the LA rapper, after his five award sweep of the Grammys.

Who was holding the Palestinian & Sudanese flag?

Over 400 dancers were selected to perform with Kendrick at halftime.

One of which was artist Zül-Quarnain Nantambu, the protester who unveiled a Sudanese and Palestinian flag standing atop the black Buick used as a prop.

Nantambu was swiftly removed by security and has since been given a lifetime NFL stadium ban.

The NFL and Roc Nation have released similar statements with the NFL’s stating “No one involved with the production was aware of the individual’s intent.”

Why did people boo Taylor Swift?

Pop star and girlfriend to Kanas City Chief’s star Travis Kelce was booed when she appeared on the big screens during the Super Bowl.

Swift is a Philadelphia native and was known to be an Eagles supporter. Eagles fans were lass than happy with her changing her allegiances in order to support her football star boyfriend.

Eagles fan were quoted as saying: “I don’t think it was anything personal, it just happened to be about the team she was rooting for that day.”

What came of the first presidential apprentice at a Super Bowl?

Donald Trump was the first serving US president to attend a Super Bowl final.

Prior to the game he met with those affected by the New Years Day attacks that happened in the host city, New Orleans.

His appearance was polarising being met with both cheers and jeers by fans, and the president was diplomatic as ever in stating he wouldn’t choose a side and he was just looking forward to a “great game.”

Although his pregame prediction didn’t go as planned with Trump backing a Chief’s win, praising their quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his MAGA fanatic wife.

He left the game an hour prior to its conclusion on Air Force One.

Trump later posted on his Truth platform weighing in on the celebrity drama: “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

Was this Kelce’s last Super Bowl?

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce admitted to reporters that he is considering retirement following the brutal 40-22 loss to the Eagles.

Kelce has 3 previous NFL titles to his name, and just surpassed hall of fame receiver Jerry Rice with the most catches in Super Bowl finals history with 35 total receptions.

He told Shaquille O’Neil: “I think if I still want to play, I’m going to play.”

And also: “I’m just going to take some time, rest, recover, and then figure it out. I think I’ll have an answer in the next couple of weeks.”
