Nine years later, Bridget Jones is back and this time she’s bigger than Barbie.
The newest adaptation of Helen Fielding’s novel is coming to the big screens on Valentine’s Day.
Mad About the Boy follows Bridget’s life after the death of Mark Darcy and her ventures back into the dating world.
Bridget, now a widowed single mother, falls for the much younger Roxster, played by Leo Woodall, and her son’s science teacher, Chiwetel Ejiofor, in a new twist on the classic love triangle.
Nearly 25 years since Bridget Jones’ Diary was first released, fans are just as ready to see the next chapter of Bridget’s life again as Mad About the Boy is set to be bigger than Barbie.
The Odeon has reported that over 150,000 seats have been sold, with more than half being sold for Valentine’s Day.
Meanwhile, The Vue has pyjama parties between February 14 and 16.
Mad About the Boy proves that sometimes a sequel can be exactly what is needed.
Eduardo Leal of the Vue cinema chain said: “It is tracking to be the biggest ever Bridget Jones film.”
Robert Mitchell of Gower Street Analytics has also said: “We’re anticipating it to be one of the biggest titles of the year in the UK, the biggest British film of the year, and the biggest box office for the first half of 2025.”
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is in cinemas on 13 February.
