Popular York steakhouse reopens after £800k renovation

After 3 weeks of anticipation, the Cut and Craft, situated in the heart of the city of York has reopened, revealing a stunning transformation.

The first of three restaurants, the Cut and Craft has remained one of the most beloved steakhouses in York since its opening in 2019.

In a hope to bring new life to the Cut and Craft’s first home, the restaurant received an £800k renovation.

After a ‘record year’ for the company, according to the York restaurant group, after the Christmas period, the restaurant was in need of a major upgrade, as many customers felt the setting did not reach the standard of the other branches.

The manager of the establishment, Guisy Cattina, expressed her excitement for the reopening, stating ‘We are incredibly proud of our team and what we have been able to achieve, and we are excited for this upgrade to reflect our success.’

Furthermore, it is clear that the people of York share this sentiment, with people flooding through the doors on opening night, anticipating the upgraded sense of luxury that they were promised.

The reception to the renovation has been largely positive, with guests describing their dining experiences as more elevated, with a more luxurious atmosphere.

However, some customers have responded to the reopening with mixed reviews, with some enjoying the new architecture, while other customers believe it missed the mark.

One customer stated in a review via TripAdvisor: “Just reportedly spent £750k on a refit. We’ve been before and I would not have known if I’m honest.”

However, despite some criticism, the reception to the renovation has been largely positive.

York Independent Life described the atmosphere as an “elegant surrounding in York’s most stylish setting.”

While many people are concerned that the restaurant is prioritising glamour over quality, the team of the York branch is determined to not let standards slip, stating “We wanted to show our love and raise a glass to where it all began.”
