The Grass Animals are back in York, taking over summer from April 13th-September 13th.

York BID brings back its much-loved summer seating, grass animals sculptures and the return of Tommy Treebark’s Wild Adventures.

The grass sculptures can be found all across York, some of these include: Exhibition Square, York museum Gardens, Duncombe Place, Dean’s Park, College Green, Eye of York, Davygate, Barbican and Peasholme Green.

Alongside the return of the grass animals, over 400 places to sit have been installed across key locations in the city centre.

There are new grass animal additions this year, including a grass alpaca, a grass tortoise, and a giant chair.

Tommy Treebark’s Wild Adventure is the perfect opportunity to see all of these grass animals.

Families are invited to track down all 55 of the wild Yorkshire animals hidden across the city centre.

Chris, 43, whose family is tracking the grass animals: “It’s a lot of fun, especially for the kids.”

Leaflets can be picked up from the Visit York Information Centre on Parliament Street.

If you complete the wild adventure and find every animal, you can return your completed leaflet to win a free prize, the choices are a cuddly rabbit, cuddly mouse, minibeast viewer or Tommy Treebark badge.

Carl Alsop, Operations Manager at York BID, said: “Our summer installations have become a real favourite with both locals and visitors. They add colour, character and places to pause right across the city.” 

He also went on to say that the trail is back “bigger than before.”
