Go Karting
Teamwork Karting York at Monks Cross Leisure Park is the perfect adrenaline-packed day out.
The site has six go-karting tracks as well as simulator racing and laser tag.
They have a half-term deal on at the moment, and an added bonus for the adults, they even have a bar.
Pottery Painting
There are several painting studios in York, but we’ve chosen two with the best options for kidsRainbows Ceramics offers a range of pottery painting sessions for kids, adults and parties, and they have recently released their Halloween range.
Bish Bash Pot is another great pottery studio that offers both in-store and paint-at-home pottery painting. If you’re looking for a fun rainy day at home but the kids are bored of colouring in, then the pottery basket is a great option.
Climbing and bouldering
Freeklime in Clifton Moor is a bouldering site with a dedicated corner for kids’ climbing as well as time slots for kids’ climbing classes.
Clip ‘N Climb at York Leisure Centre offers rope climbing with a variety of walls and interactive climbs, which include games. Next week, there are sessions every day with specific time slots for their Halloween special, and once a week, they offer a specific time for SEN kids.

Escape Rooms
There is a wide variety of options for escape rooms in York, which are all highly rated, so we’ve picked the best two for kids to enjoy as well. kids’
Mindlock offers a range of rooms, all varying in difficulty. The recommended age to play is 8+, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The escapes include a Viking Valhalla themed room, V90, a science lab themed room, Dark Arts, a witch wizard themed room and a Cluedo room.
Can You Escape has two escape rooms and no age limit, but once again, anyone below 16 years must be supervised by an adult.
One room follows the story of a mad scientist, and the aim is to stop his master plan, and the other is a group of scientists trying to find a cure for a virus.
Mini Golf
Deciding between the two mini golf venues in York is a tough decision.
Hollywood Bowl at Coppergate shopping centre offers a range of activities, including mini golf, as well as selling food and drinks on site
The Hole In Wand in the city centre offers a range of ticket options, including standard, premium and group tickets.
Also, it isn’t just any regular golf; it’s wizard-themed.

Trampoline parks
Trampoline parks are the best way to let your kids unleash all of their energy. York has two trampoline parks, both with great offers on at the moment.
Oxygen at Clifton Moor Retail Park has a large trampoline area as well as inflatables, an interactive sports pitch, a strike arena, a giant airbag and a trapeze as well as climbing.
They have a great after-school deal on at the moment, where for just the price of a regular hour session, your kids can get unlimited play time from 3:30 until close, as well as a free meal and slush.
Flip Out, near Rawcliffe, boasts a huge 9 attractions, including the regular trampoline section as well as a timed ninja warrior course and many more.
In their family deal, you can save up to £26, paying only £44 for a group of 4.
Museums
York is famous for its many museums, and they are a great educational way to spend time out with the kids.
National Railway Museum is a classic rainy-day activity, but there is also the York Dungeons for some spooky history, Dig for some hands-on archaeology, York Castle Museum for great visual history and a reconstructed old street, Yorkshire Museum for local history mixed with fun bits for dinosaur lovers and York Army Museum for kids who love all things military.
