York is once again gearing up to celebrate international women’s week. The first themed event will be taking place on Tuesday the 4th of March, with the final being held on Saturday 8th of March.
Amongst the events, Kyra’s women’s project will be holding a taster day on the 8th of March at the Central Methodist Church at 10 am until 4pm, and will be attended by Councillor Clare Douglas and MP Rachel Maskell.
The CEO of Kyra, Ira Laketic- Ljubojevic said: “At Kyra, we help local women become the best they can be and this International Women’s Day we want to empower the women of York to thrive in every aspect of life.”
There will be a variety of taster sessions throughout the day to take part in including poetry, dance, yoga and group coaching, as well as having stalls in support of numerous charities which you can donate too and show your support.
On the 6th of March, York Mix is celebrating the day by hosting a Networking event, making it the perfect opportunity to meet inspirational women who will fill everyone with a sense of empowerment.
It will take place at The Hospitium, Museum Gardens at 1pm and tickets are still on sale for free, making it a sociable and enriching day out for anybody to enjoy.
This is an annual event which has been hosted for the past 16 years and is dedicated to uplifting women and help them build their connections in and around the local area.
The general theme for the event changes every time, this year: “Looking forward, moving forward”, has been coined as the tag line, setting the scene for an inspirational afternoon.

There are several other places hosting something relating to the day.
Lush York x Avocado events are doing a make your own bath bombs, a makeup and skincare consultation and attendees will even receive your own goodie bag just for coming to this fun and creative session celebrating women on the 4th March at 6:30pm.
Going the Journey also takes place at 6:30pm at Bluebird Bakery, it is a workshop that aims to be supporting and help women to find their own way and supporting one and other.
It will be held by Bryony Rowntree, who is a personal development coach and specialises in mental health training.
