Harrogate Town suffered a blow to their play-off chase after their 2-0 loss against Walsall on Saturday.

An in-form Walsall put two goals past the home team, leaving Harrogate 11th in the table. To reach the play-offs the Town would need its four rivals to lose.

Harrogate’s head coach Simon Weaver spoke about the lack of goals after the match saying: “Final passing and final finish was the only thing missing”.

Weaver also commented on the quality of the away team: “Credit to the opposition, they defended well and they got the numbers back”.

Whilst the Sulphurites beat Walsall away at the beginning of the season, an unfortunate drop in attacking performance left home fans disappointed with the result.

Harrogate now look forward towards their Tuesday night game against Newport County in an attempt to prove to their fans that they still have an opportunity to climb the league.

With a previous win against the Exiles who are currently in 16th place, the squad will be hopeful to regain a winning streak. Their next game comes shortly after being against Swindon Town, another team in a much lower position in the league.
