What age should children be allowed out by themselves?

Police are warning parents after two young children were approached by a man on their way to school.
┬áThe children’s ages have not been released.
The young children were on Back Lane in Copmanthrope at around 8.35am and despite being distressed the children arrived safely at school short after.

Police say the man was described as being a white bald man, around 5ft 7 with a chubby build and are asking people to contact them if they have any further information.
