A relentless attacking campaign has seen York City reach a new milestone in front of goal this season, as they broke the club record for league goals in a single season.
The Minstermen’s latest milestone passes the club’s previous record of 96 league goals in a season, which was set during the 1983/84 campaign.
This was breezed past as York put three past Eastleigh at the LNER Community Stadium to move their total up to 97 for the season, with nine games still to go.
York City got back to winning ways on the weekend as they comfortably brought the game back after falling 1-0 behind to Eastleigh after 18 minutes.
The Minstermen hit back with two goals thanks to Malachi Fagan-Walcott and a strike from Mark Kitching to secure a 3-1 win at home.
“I played as a striker many years ago, but in training if we’re doing small sided games and stuff, I love to wander back up there to have a bit of fun.
“I have the little striker instincts for when I’m around the box for corners and things like that,” Fagan-Walcott told the club’s website post-match.
That is 102 goals now for York City in all competitions this season, and to celebrate this achievement the club is offering fans a limited time discount on all training, travel and loungewear at 50% off, which will be available in-store and online.
