Sarah Bosworth Back in Top Form at the Harewood Hill Climb

Motorsport legend Sarah Bosworth sealed a successful return to one of Yorkshire’s premier events with a top four finish.

Bosworth is one of the veterans of the event and a three time winner of the Harewood Hill Climb at the stately home outside Leeds.

After two decades of driving her Lotus Elise across the country, she is the only driver who has won both BARC championship distinctions in her illustrious career.

Her most dominant race is at Harewood which she won in 2012, 2016, and 2019, being adorned as the Harewood Hill Climb expert.

Her most recent record was the 2000cc modified production record at the limb with an astonishing time of 59.52 seconds.

This month she took to the J1 classification and competed in a Van Diemen RF85, finishing the climb with a best time of 63.93.

She has said: “I’m now looking to get a top ten finish whenever I am driving.” Bosworth comfortably secured a top four finish in her classification.

The J1 event was won by Jimmy Harris who was just under three seconds faster than Bosworth..

Bosworth now works as an instructor at Harewood but has made guest appearances in the last few years having traded in her Lotus Elise for an array of classic and historic vehicles.

One such vehicle was the 1963 Special Saloon Ford Anglia, which had previously been driven to many victories by its owner Michael McErlain.

With this year’s May Hill Climb complete it marks the start of many motorsport related events in North Yorkshire.

The Hill Climb involves a series of car and bike races in the historic grounds of Harewood House. It includes vintage, classic and racing cars.

Such events include the Rally Yorkshire races which normally take place throughout September, and the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival, which is expected to take place in June.
