York’s historic city walls are set to be lit up with rainbow lights for Pride.
The parade will be on Saturday 3rd June and will be the 51st Pride Parade York has held. York City Council has also arranged for a rainbow flag to fly above the city.
The parade will begin from York Minister at 12 noon and continue through the city passing many independent shops, ale pubs and historic buildings. It will eventually reach Knavesmire, where the celebrations will continue.
York is preparing to give visitors a thrilling experience. A fun-fair Ferris wheel has been placed in the centre of town and many bars, hotels and restaurants are ready to welcome many tourists for the weekend of celebrations.
Greg Stephenson from York Pride committee said: “Recent years have seen thousands of people in York standing alongside the LGBTQ+ community during Pride. The parade has been cheered by shoppers, businesses celebrate diversity and parties are thrown along the route of the march.”
