Two children have been assaulted on a bus in North Yorkshire.
It happened on the 3rd of March on the 5A service from York to Strensall.
North Yorkshire police posted CCTV images, asking “Please contact us if you recognise the man pictured, as he may have information that will assist our investigation”
As of yet no arrests have been made and there is no confirmed identity of the suspect.
Another incident also happened on another bus on the same day around 8pm where another child was assaulted by a man.
An teenage boy, under the age of 18, was taken to hospital with swelling and bruising after being struck in the face but the police report he didn’t sustain serious injuries.
The police released a description of a man who is believed to be in his 40s around 6ft tall and wearing dark green clothing at the time of the second incident.
James Willson from York regularly uses the City’s buses. He says: “I no longer feel safe getting public transport with the news filled will reports of assaults regularly.”
City of York council have invested £100,000 of the £17 million from the Government into a three-year plan to improve city bus services.
This will include upgrading bus frequency, new routes and cheaper or simpler tickets for young people.

Data from North Yorkshire police shows increased crimes numbers on buses, increasing from 45 incidents in 2020 to 146 in 2025.
As concern grows, Police have completed a targeted operation between York and Leeds in a bid to tackle recent reports of anti-social behaviour on the bus network.
With the aim of trying to keep the route safe for everyone, officers have even travelled on buses to identify the offenders responsible.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Our teams have been providing a highly visible presence, engaging with bus staff, passengers, and local partner agencies.”
