Is York Restaurant Week still worth your money in 2026?

As the cost-of-living soars higher and higher, many Brits have put weekend dinner plans and cocktail nights on hold, but can York Restaurant Week change that?

More than 100 locations in York City Centre are taking part from the 9th to the 22nd of March, which is the historically quieter, cost-pressured period for hospitality.

Despite the name ‘York Restaurant Week’, organisers York BID are extending the event for two weeks for the first time.

Deals range from five pound to £30 – from snacks to fine dining at York’s most sought-after food and beverage locations.

Dean Court Hotel is one of them. For 4 years, they say they have been seeing the benefits of York’s Restaurant Week for both themselves and their customers.

Dean Court’s Assistant Manager, Rebecca Hardcastle, 45, speaks highly of the event, saying it brings “so many more customers in”.

She added, “I also love taking advantage of the deals myself and trying new places”.

Popular for their location and rooms overlooking York Minster, Dean Court also has a restaurant that is also open to non-residents.

With a valid YRW voucher, the restaurant offers a two course meal for £20, or three course for £25.

A customer of Dean Court, Caitlin Gomez, 60, visited during York Restaurant Week and was “pleasantly surprised” at their offers.

“The restaurant is normally quite expensive and out of my budget”, Gomez admitted.

“But they actually offer a fair deal during Restaurant Week”, she added.

York Restaurant Week was first launched in 2019 and has since brought in an estimated £4 million pounds per event.

More than 30,000 vouchers are downloaded each event which helps to support York’s growing hospitality sector.

This year, new venues Drift-In, Howl, Love Cheese and 200 Degrees Coffee are also opening their doors for the event.

York Restaurant Week will return in October 2026.
