As Spring comes to an end York Theatre Royal will be celebrating the talented students of York St John University.
TakeOver 2025 allows York St John performance students the opportunity to showcase their talents up on stage before finishing their final year.
This event has been running for over a decade and gives the students experience of a real performance and gives the audience plenty of fun to celebrate the beginning of summer.
The theatre will be hosting TakeOver 2025, and the week long festival will be running from May 27th to 31st.
Final year performance students will essentially run the theatre, from working as producers to being the front of house staff.
During the week these students will be hosting events for everyone to enjoy, with showcases, workshops and more.
There will be professional performances, such as Sunny Side on Thursday 29th and Skeleton out the closet on Friday 30th.
York St John takeover showcases will be running Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th and Friday 30th of May.
For those who enjoy a nice and relaxing sit down, the café will be open between 10am-5pm Monday through Saturday.
But wait! There’s more…
Not everyone is able to feel particularly comfortable in loud, crowded places, yet many still want to attend fun events.
York Theatre Royal has the solution, on Saturday 31st May there will be a SEND disco with separate youth and adult sessions.
This event is inclusive and safe for anyone who has SEND needs and parents/carers are welcome and will receive free admittance.
The workshops, activities and showcases that will be running during the week, can be viewed on York Theatre Royal’s website.
