York’s newest nightclub, Circuit, isn’t even open yet, but it’s already got people talking – and not just about the opening night on May 3rd.
Circuit has been stirring up attention by doing something no one expected: giving away a framed chunk of carpet from the now-closed club Kuda.
In a recent Instagram reel, Circuit announced the giveaway with a caption that raised eyebrows: “RIP Kuda, 2012–2025. Womp womp, gone but easily forgotten.”
They’ve taken a piece of Kuda’s old carpet, put it in a frame, and made it into a prize.
The response?
People are weirdly into it.
Some have even said: “I actually really want this,” which says a lot about how nostalgic—or chaotic—York’s nightlife fans can be.
However, it didn’t stop there.
Circuit fuelled the fire by commenting: “This ain’t the 80s—no more carpet.” Clearly, they’re not just stepping over Kuda’s memory—they’re stomping on it with fresh soles and no regrets.
The public has shown mixed reactions, with one person saying: “This kinda makes me sad, RIP kuda, you will be missed.”
While many are hyped to see what the club offers, others, however, remain cautiously curious.
And everyone is wondering in the comment section of their posts: “Is this a rebrand or did they get bought?”
So, is this a true reinvention of York nightlife or just a rebranded version of the past with a new name?
