Roberto’s tenth anniversary was celebrated in the sweetest way possible—by handing out free gelato burgers to everyone who entered the popular city centre café and gelato.
The shop was bustling as customers indulged in the flavourful treats.
After much discussion (and plenty of taste-testing), five flavours stood out as the most popular. Here’s The Yorkie’s review of the top five.
5. Vanilla

Vanilla is a safe choice, and this one delivered precisely what was expected—smooth, creamy, and lightly nutty.
No surprises, no disappointments.
While undeniably pleasant, it didn’t exactly stand out. Nothing was wrong with it, but nothing was exciting about it.
This vanilla ice cream played it safe, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just predictable.
4. Extra dark chocolate

The first bite of this one was pure chocolate bliss.
Rich, deep, and intense. Unfortunately, that intensity became its biggest flaw.
The chocolate flavour was so strong and rich that it felt overwhelming after just a few spoonfuls.
Instead of craving more, there was a growing need for water (or maybe a scoop of something lighter to cut through it).
A small portion was significant, but anything more felt like a struggle.
3. Oreo

Oreo was an easy crowd-pleaser—creamy vanilla gelato mixed with crunchy cookie bits.
The texture was great, and the contrast between the soft and crunchy elements kept it interesting.
However, there was one issue: sweetness overload.
After a few bites, the sugariness became almost cloying, making it hard to keep eating without feeling like a sugar crash was coming.
It was still a solid flavour, just better in small doses.
2. Stratiecella

This one was a step up from Oreo, offering a similar combination of textures but with a more refined approach.
The long, thin shards of hardened chocolate snapped satisfyingly before melting into the gelato, creating a contrast that kept each bite interesting.
Unlike Oreo, the sweetness was more balanced, making it easier to enjoy without hitting sugar fatigue.
It wasn’t mind-blowing, but it was a reliable, well-executed flavour.
1. Pistachio

This was the clear winner.
Creamy, nutty, and perfectly balanced, it had all the richness of a great gelato without any of the drawbacks of the others.
The flavours blended seamlessly, with neither the pistachio nor the creamy base overpowering the other.
The only thing missing was a bit of texture—some actual pieces of pistachio would have made it even better—but even without them, it was near perfection.
