York Fashion Week is back with its annual autumn/winter shows, the week-long event will celebrate the young talent and independent designers from around Yorkshire.
Taking place from the 6th of October, it kicks off with the long-awaited return of The Student and Graduate Fashion Show. Taking place in the Guildhall on the 7th of October at 7pm, the show will celebrate the students’ final collections and showcase work from past graduates. The event will give each designer five minutes to showcase their collections to the audience on the runway.
York Fashion Week (YFW) will be filled with events that the public can get involved with, from shows to workshops, installations and live sessions with the designers. It is a great experience to take part in, whether its becoming a model or designing a collection, anyone can sign up using the website.
Priding themselves on inclusivity, YFW encourages the public to get involved with the shows. In a statement on their website they say: “Inclusiveness is key and the events strive to be welcoming and accessible to everyone – whether you want to participate in YFW or simply attend one of the events.”

And for the second time YFW will be hosting a week-long show called Mannequin. Last year this took place at Hobbs, who let the live models become part of their winter display. It’s a chance to become a live model in an art installation. The public can either nominate themselves or their shop to participate in the event that’s location will remain a secret to public.
