York City FC give a helping hand at a local community garden

York City football players have given up some of their free time to give a helping hand at a local community garden.

A number of York City Footballers have also volunteered at the community garden center to help plant flowers, put up signs. All of this comes months just before the Bloom! Festival, which will hopefully still be going on so long as COVID-19 does not intervene.

The festival is meant to be taking place on the 20th of June and will come to an end on the 28th of June. This year’s theme for the festival is “Art in Nature”.

York City FC will also be generously donating a “York City FC experience” as a competition prize for the lucky winner of the amazing and beautiful festival.

The garden center was started as a campaign to turn and an old derelict patch of land into a beautiful area for the locals to spend time and maybe even get involved and help with the gardening.

Fundraising is done by the committee and has made the project possible there was also a helping hand given from TalkTalk UFO broadband which has really helped the committee.

Over the coming months, up to four more planters are hopefully going to be put in place and as many as 20 new breeze blocks as well. This will allow for a lot more fruit, flowers, herbs, and trees to be planted in the area.

We look forward to seeing how this garden turns out and hopefully it can be a great place for the community to relax and spend some time.
