Top Five upcoming UK festivals of 2023

As summer edges closer so do the lively festivals filled with memories. The question is what festivals are worth the money that will promise you a wild weekend?

Festival culture is very popular in the UK as there are over 100 festivals that occur every year, attracting thousands of people for an unforgettable experience shared with their friends and favorite artists.

The top five upcoming festivals taking place in the summer of 2023 are Glastonbury, Creamfields, Wireless, Boardmasters and Parklife.

Glastonbury first appeared in 1970, with Tyrannosaurus Rex, later known as T. Rex, being a headlining act. Glastonbury is said to continue to be the biggest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world. It has also been the inspiration for some festivals that have been created after it. Somerset is the location of where this festival takes place. This year’s line up includes a mix of new and classic artists such as Elton John, Arctic Monkeys, Central Cee, Lizzo, Lana Del Rey and Guns N’ Roses.

The camping spot that is most desirable in Glastonbury is Row Mead as you are able to witness the artists performing on the Pyramid Stage from your own tents. Unfortunately, this camping spot fills up very quickly. However, a good second choice is the Big Ground as it allows you to camp near the Pyramid Stage and catch as many headliners as possible.

Creamfields first emerged in 1998 and has since been a recognisable and beloved festival in the UK. Creamfields South takes place at Chelmsford, whilst Creamfields North takes place in Cheshire. Electronic dance music, drum and bass and the world’s biggest DJs, including Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia, are the music genres that are and will be played at this prestigious festival.

The campsites at Creamfields have multiple choices and places for food, charging stations for devices and a camping supplies store to make your camping experience a better quality and more comfortable.

Wireless was first introduced to the public in 2005, headlining the world’s most significant hip hop artists. It takes place every year in July in Finsbury Park and Crystal Palace, a beautiful setting that makes the experience more remarkable. Some of the artists who will be performing this year are Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert and Bryson Tiller.

However, Wireless does not include camping. Although, it does provide a massive beer garden, areas to chill out and food stalls to keep their guests occupied and happy.

Boardmasters first started off as a surfing competition at Fistral Beach, until the music side of it was introduced in 2005. The festival occurs at Newquay, Cornwall with space for over 50,000 people. There is a mix of genres that are played at Boardmasters, from Drum and bass to rock. This year’s line up incorporates Lorde, Bru-C and Florence + the Machine.

The campsite at Boardmasters includes multiple accommodations. One of the campsites is the VIP campsite, which you have to purchase tickets for. It includes luxuries such as, dedicated showers and toilets, drink offerings and a reception desk that is available for 24 hours for any questions you may have. Additionally, you are able to park motorhomes, trailer tents and caravans in the campervan/ motorhome area. It requires a Weekend Camping ticket and Campervan ticket. Other vehicles are prohibited.

Parklife was first created in 2010 and grew from a small Manchester project to one of the most well known festivals in the UK, attracting the best artists in the industry. It is located in Heaton Park, which is in north Manchester. There is a combination of music genres as it expands from pop rock to hip hop. This years line up consists of Aitch, Wilkinson and Goddard.

Parklife is a two day festival, therefore it is not a camping festival. Nevertheless, there are plenty of things to keep guests engaged. This includes a number of food trucks and roaming entertainers.

Now it is up to you to decide which festival catches your attention and is more suited to you. Let your unforgettable summer commence.
